Advice, Advocacy & Family Support

Falls Women’s Centre works to balance the detrimental effects of social and economic exclusion on the lives of women and their families. Our Advice Department support women survivors of domestic violence, sexualised violence, rape abuse and historical abuse. The following services are provided:

Friends at the Beach

Falls Women’s Centre works to balance the detrimental effects of social and economic exclusion on the lives of women and their families. Our Advice Department support women survivors of domestic violence, sexualised violence, rape abuse and historical abuse. The following services are provided:

 

  • Counselling to women who suffer from high levels of anxiety, depression, prescription drug dependency, alcohol abuse and have been traumatised within their lives.

  • One to one support with survivors of Domestic Violence, rape, sexualised violence, historical abuse, and child abuse.

  • Referring, supporting and settling women in need of Women’s Aid.

  • Information and guidance on Benefits and Debt Management

  • One to one support on housing and hostels and working with women who are homeless.

  • One to one support on women are affected through Drugs & Alcohol addictions.

  • Work with women on community safety issues.

  • Provide pathways to personal development, confidence building, accredited and non-accredited training and education.

  • Provide intervention and prevention of suicidal ideation through counselling, CBT, complementary therapy, life coaching and Out of hours counselling support. Building on women’s mental health & wellbeing.

  • Provide one to one support to ethnic minority women seeking asylum and when they have received their status.

 

Through the provision of specific targeted measures such as family support, complementary therapy, counselling, childcare, one to one support, advice, advocacy, health & well-being we will build the capacity of women. Women and their families will benefit from specific interventions helping them to address family issues and relationships, address their emotional and behavioural attitudes, work with their mental health and move towards living a better quality of life.

 

Women who are on benefits will receive support and information as to the correct benefit. Women who are in debt will received support to address the debt issues, seek methods for repayment and gain knowledge and skills on how to budget. Asylum Seekers will receive support in applying for status, addressing housing issues, addressing mental health and integrating within the community inclusive of community safety.

Within the wraparound service of the Falls Women’s Centre women will progress onto training and education programmes enabling them to build their confidence and self-esteem.
